Taking Afro House to great lengths and parts unknown, Italian duo Bayaka delivers MoBlack Records’ 403rd imprint, laying out the “Goy Boyro” (The Good Work) with their energetic, Afro infused techno remix
of Samba Toure’s 2018 masterpiece from the Malian singer/guitarist’s acclaimed Wande album. Rife with charged electronic swells and dynamic synth modulations that sit on lush percussion-driven groove and a looming bluesy disposition, Cristian and Giorgio embellish a prismatic backdrop, perfectly situating Samba Toure’s salient vocals and reverberating its sentimental hooks and poignant acoustics to punch
deeper. Candidly capturing plights of guitar riffs and ngoni undulations blending with static recoils, warped synths and loops throughout the 7:12 minute journey, Bayaka reminisces the bracing juncture between
afro house and techno, human and universe, gravity and motion - and in tandem, Toure’s lament comes alive. On B-side Bayaka does the handiwork, stripping out vocals for places in time too full for words - an
exquisite instrumental version drapes the curtain for those intense dancefloor moments or intimate headphone meditations.
