Ayala returns on MoBlack Records for the third time this year, just in time to stall summer a little
longer, or maybe forever. The South Italian DJ/Producer has aced his signature recipe for
sophisticated dancefloor heaters ladling a bit of tribal groove, retro futurism and unpretentious
spunk, and Revancha keeps that very momentum flowing - fiercer. A clean- cut rhythm fuels Ayala’s
7:48 minute jaunt on A side, an ideal junction for Latin infused atmospheres, a jazzy bassline and
textured layers of percussion hitting pitches and timbres just right. Though it is its seductive electric
guitar riffs and suave synth treatment that really make Revancha come alive, and it does with no
inhibitions. Over the pond, Wonderwheel Recordings’ jetsetting mastermind Nickodemus teams up
with label mainstay and full blooded musician The Spy from Cairo to give A side a bit of eclectic
wanderlust treatment. The former’s New York hustle and global-inspired connection to dance music
and the latter’s deep roots in ethnic instrumentation concoct an ecstatic sonic experience, yielding
an ebullient dub-powered remix grooving nifty beats and fetching harmonies that last beyond the
dancefloor. MBR408 teems with restless energy that doesn’t quite know what tired feels like - a
passport to faraway places and eternal sunrises that the world could use right about now.
