MoBlack Records’ 391th chapter features Swiss artist Jay Fase driving a 6:54 minute excursion and Professor (Woussasa-member) Jim Mamadou’s vocals leading “the way” - “Sama Yone” (in Wolof). After years thriving in the scene, as one half of the electronic music duo Firefly among
other endeavors, Jay Fase flourishes au fait in his very own persona - infusing unique flavors
and depth only time can serve best, to deliver a textured composition that piques senses,
elevating minds and choreographing bodies beyond visceral realms. On MBR391, the
accomplished and multifaceted DJ/Producer reached inwards, deeper within and sanguinely,
than ever before, rendering an immersive spiritual journey rife with vitalizing tribal soundscapes,
a vigorous techno touch and starry-eyed synthetic vagaries. Tender chords, effusive pitch
tempering, and moist electronic modulation wallow, ebbing in afro beats and flowing to fetching
rhythm, as Mamadou’s Wolof vocals waft an airy feel, altogether seaming a narrative that is
elemental and mundane as it is dreamy and idealistic, in pursuit of a trajectory that is by no
means linear, at times chaotic, and beautifully so.
